On My Mind

I’ve had some things on my mind recently and I decided to share them with you!

1. Signature Wraps at Subway!  I am in love with the Turkey Bacon Guac on Tomato Basil Wrap.  It is so delicious.  I’m sure not at all healthy,  but the wrap makes you feel like you are making a smarter choice!  It is really, really good.

2. School has started at our house.  We have a 6th grader!  I think this might be the first year where girls are on his radar!  Watch out!  I’m sure I will be changing my tune in the coming months, but I’m kind of excited about it.  No matter what, I think this will be his best school year yet!  There are lots of new things for him to discover this year and that is just awesome!

3. What did we have to obsess over before FB?  Why is it that you can put a post out there and receive all sorts of love on it, but yet you still notice that one certain person didn’t respond in any way?!  I kinda hate myself for noticing and then feeling a little hurt by it.  I know it’s time to put my big girl pants on and get over it.  So, that’s what I’m trying now!  Wish me luck…can I resist looking before the day is out?!

4. I want to become more of a foodie-in moderation, of course.  I still want to continue on my journey to become more healthy, but I want to cook more and try more foods.  Are you with me on this?

5. And lastly today, I want to sew more.  In order for me to do this, I must find some organization at my home!  First step first, make a space for a permanent sewing station!  I will keep you posted…and share my projects once I get going!

I’m feeling inspired this afternoon.  Let’s hope I can maintain it this evening and make some progress towards it all.  And, just in case you missed it in the beginning you need to try one of these wraps from Subway….mmmmmmmm!

That is all!

Can’t Get Motivated

I am struggling to find the motivation I need to meet my goals!!  I have all the pieces in place, but can’t pull myself together and stay focused.

Am I overwhelmed with all of the changes I know I need to make?  Am I just a lazy person?  Do I need some crazy gimmick to make me stay focused?  I think there is a bit of all of these things contributing.

So, where do I start?  I shall stagger my life changes.  Not do all of them starting today!  For today, I shall eat within my calorie allowance on My Fitness Pal!

To address the laziness, I need a whole mind shift!  I think my compromise will be to “schedule” myself some down time in the evening.  We will start with 1 hour of down time and stay productive through the night.

And now for the gimmick…i have an idea,  but want to hear your ideas.  What kind of a game should I entertain myself with while on this journey??

What?  It’s Almost August?

Where has this month gone??  I had high hopes for July.  I was going to take those first steps to really changing my life.  And, now it’s July 23rd and I haven’t done squat!  But, tomorrow is a new day!

I have joined a weight loss challenge that starts tomorrow.  I begin with my weigh in.  There is not a specific program to follow, just do your best and the two people who lose the highest percentage of weight in 12 weeks wins!  I hope to share with all of you along the way.  This will coincide nicely with my goal of 65 pounds by the end of the year!

So, starting this challenge is all the change I’m making this week.  I still need to work on organizing my life-both at home and at work.  I think I need to re-implement my Five After 5 list for home.  I might squeeze that in this week…its not a big life changer plus it helps you feel like you are accomplishing something!

Until next time friends!

Goal Setting

I had promised to share some goals with you July 5…and that was yesterday.  I did not get to that yesterday as our company stayed another day-which was a great thing!  That meant we got to spend the 4th of July with them and our son!  I’m excited for 12 year old as he is traveling with family to Pennsylvania where he will see more family and get to spend some quality time with his cousins.  Hoping that he is making lifelong memories over the next week or so!

As for mom and dad back in Kansas, we already miss him and can’t wait for him to be back on kitten duty (he’s only been gone for about 30 hours!!).

We are using this time to get ourselves into some healthier habits-like eating better and being more active in the evenings.  I haven’t completely committed to all of the goals that I want set for myself, but do plan to finalize them over the weekend.

The main goal for me right now is to lose 65 pounds from where I was this morning by the end of the year.  That’s about 11 pounds a month.  I think that is do-able.  I plan to try a couple different ways to accomplish this goal.  My first one is to do a DietBet for 28 days.  Anyone interested in doing this with me??

I will share more goals soon, so stay tuned!!

Hello Again

The goal for the moment…get motivated and stay that way.  As I left work for lunch today, I felt very motivated to finding my way back blogging and more importantly working on Me!

Focus will be back in full force on July 5! We have company at our house until then and that will get me the appropriate time to prep. I will have 3 goals and deadlines as appropriate.  I will share them on this blog.

I hope that my motivation will rub off on anyone who is looking for it.  I will accept any and all encouragement! I’m excited and ready!  How about you?

Randomness Forthcoming

I have not blogged since January!!  I have missed it, but I have also been in a funk for quite a while.  I have been crazy busy at my daytime job and just haven’t had much left for anything else in the evenings.  And, honestly, I had lost my focus and desire to works towards a “better me.”

I don’t know if it the spring weather that has FINALLY arrived or if I feel a little less buried at work, but I am ready to get back at it!  I am ready to blog again!

I see this phase of blogging going a little differently than before.  I want to focus on trying new things and sharing those things with you!

This week–I am going to do a little container gardening this year and this week I am planting the first of those things.  This weekend, my son and I got seeds to plant lettuce, radishes, and peas.  I also want to do some tomatoes and peppers (both bell and jalapeno!).  I am excited to get these growing and to share my harvest with you!!

Have you recently tried something new?  Planning to do something you’ve not done before?  Share with us.  Inspire us.  What did you learn?  What would you do differently?

What to do?!

This is space above my kitchen sink.  I want to jazz it up!  One thing I want for sure is a couple containers with some herbs growing.  I think I want cilantro, but haven’t decided any other herbs.

What suggestions do you guys have for other herbs?  And, my other question…I haven’t been to any store since I decided to do this, but can I go buy cilantro to grow this time of year?  Where’s my best chance to get some in January!

Any suggestions for other ways to jazz up this space?  I can’t wait to see what you have to say and what I end up doing there!!  Stay tuned!

I know just last night I posted about being healthier in 2017…and today I post pictures of food-and not of the healthy variety!

Trust me here, I have not given up on my goals for 2017 already.  But, I had ingredients for these two dishes still in my fridge and didn’t want them to go to waste!  I had planned to make each of these while we had company over the Holidays, but that didn’t end up happening!  So we tried out these Pinterest recipes today!

For breakfast we had a Cinnamon Roll French Toast Bake!  For dinner we had Crock Pot Chicken and Noodles!  Both were super easy and well received by the men at this house!

The goal for tomorrow is to do some Gazelling!  I hope your 2017 is off to a great start!  Do you have any goals for this New Year??

Out With the Old, In With the New

After spending a little time on Facebook today, I am convinced I am not the only one ready to say goodbye to 2016!

I can’t even tell you why I’m so ready to put it behind me.  Nothing bad happened in 2016.  Truthfully, I think it has more to do with the excitement of what a New Year has to offer. I say it every year, but I want 2017 to be the year I get healthy.  I am ready to do what I need to do to make that happen.  I want 2017 to be the year I get more organized around the house.  I want 2017 to be the year I do more crafty and creative projects.  I want 2017 to be the year that I am truly present every moment–especially as a mom.  I want 2017 to be the year I prioritize the important relationships in my life.  This is the year!!

I feel like I spent a lot of 2016 being tired and lacking motivation.  I am kicking those feelings to the curb!  I’m done with it!

Remember several weeks ago I posted that I had an event in December 2017 that I wanted to ready for?  Well, my brother-in-law is getting married December 9 to a most fabulous woman.  And, I want to set a weight loss goal to achieve by their wedding.  And, I’m going to share that goal with all of you here today.  I want to lose 75 pounds by that time.  I have approximately 345ish days (I ballparked that number…I bet my future sister-in-law knows exactly how many days until then!) to get there.  And, honestly, my hope is to get there well before that time and to be able to set a second goal to achieve by that time!

So, like I’ve said several times here on my blog, I’m going to share it all on here.  I might get annoying, but I’ll try real hard to not be.  I’m excited.

Here’s to 2017 and to all of its greatness!
